Arta Finance is building a digital family office platform that democratizes wealth management and alternative asset access for a global audience using AI and sophisticated digital tools. The company is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design and build core financial systems that power the platform. You will focus on high-reliability financial infrastructure where correctness, consistency, and latency are critical. Key responsibilities include designing and building core financial systems (trading, ledger, billing), developing systems for transaction processing, reconciliation, and portfolio state management, building and scaling real-time and batch data pipelines, architecting APIs and backend services for internal and external use, ensuring system reliability and observability, contributing to distributed systems design (event-driven systems, microservices, streaming), and partnering with ML teams to integrate models into production systems as needed. You should be a strong backend or systems engineer with experience in distributed systems and at least one of: financial systems (trading, ledger, payments), data infrastructure, or scalable backend platforms. Required skills include strong understanding of system design, consistency, and reliability, solid programming skills (Python or similar), and experience with modern infrastructure (Kafka, Kubernetes, cloud). Strong pluses include experience with financial primitives (ledger, order management, reconciliation), low-latency or high-throughput systems, data platforms or streaming systems, and familiarity with ML systems. The interview process includes five stages: introduction with Head of Talent (20-30m), two coding/algorithm/data structures rounds (60m each, one virtual and one onsite), domain knowledge and system design round (60m onsite), and co-founder interview (30m). At least one in-person interview is required before an offer decision; remotely located candidates may be asked to visit Mountain View HQ or meet team members in NY/New Jersey depending on location. Compensation is based on interview performance, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training, with salary bands updated periodically using market benchmarks and geographic location considerations. Salary ranges: IC I $110,000-$180,000, IC II $160,000-$230,000, IC III $180,000-$300,000. Equity is a significant part of total compensation. Benefits include competitive salary, vibrant work environment, diverse talented team, robust health insurance, high deductible health plan with HSA contribution, 20 weeks parental leave, and 17 days PTO annually.
