Salary: USD 170,000 - 205,000 / annual

As a Staff/Principal Backend Software Engineer, you will shape the technical direction and architecture of the platform. You will lead the design and development of complex software systems, working closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers. Key responsibilities include mentoring and coaching junior engineers in best practices, driving innovation through new technologies and frameworks, and serving as a technical leader across the organization.
You are an exceptionally productive engineer known for crafting elegant, maintainable, extensible software. You excel at identifying and addressing technical debt, advocate for unit testing and continuous integration, and take pride in swift product delivery. You are detail-oriented, collaborative (including through pair programming), and provide actionable code review feedback. You actively engage with customers to understand pain points and articulate feature rationale to fellow engineers.
You bring versatility and quick learning ability, establishing yourself as a technological thought leader. You mentor colleagues effectively, manage deadlines through strong planning and prioritization, and maintain a holistic, product-focused perspective. You seek and provide feedback openly, communicating proactively about growth opportunities.

**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, software engineering, or related field
- Substantial professional experience in software development with a solid record of designing, building, and evolving complex software systems over multiple years
- Strong understanding of software design principles, patterns, and best practices
- Expertise in one or more programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Rust, or C++
- Expertise in backend development for data-intensive applications
- Experience working with databases such as Postgres or MySQL
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Proven leadership skills with ability to guide and mentor junior engineers
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools such as Scrum or Kanban
