Teambridge is a composable, AI-native workforce management platform serving the 60%+ of US workers (70% globally) paid hourly. The platform uses modular, no-code blocks to automate workforce tasks—hiring, onboarding, time-tracking, scheduling, and pay—with a mobile-first design that drives engagement and retention. Backed by $28M Series B funding from General Catalyst and Mayfield, Teambridge is redefining workforce management for enterprises.
You'll join a fast-moving engineering team as a Senior Backend Engineer with real ownership and impact. The role demands a critical thinker and doer comfortable with ambiguity, capable of scoping work independently, unblocking themselves, and flagging blockers early. You're a generalist at heart—backend-focused but willing to own frontend work when needed to ship features. You prefer shipping solid Phase 1 solutions and iterating over months of polish. You hold strong opinions backed by reasoning but remain flexible; the best idea wins, not seniority or volume.
Key responsibilities include independently delivering end-to-end features (backend, infrastructure, frontend skeleton), working cross-functionally with product, design, and sales to understand requirements and ship thoughtful solutions, removing ambiguity through tradeoff discussions with technical and non-technical stakeholders, writing high-quality extensible code, actively engaging in code reviews, leading architecture discussions, promoting better practices, and contributing to product, process, and culture feedback.
The team uses AI coding tools heavily across the stack and hires generalists—curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn matter more than a perfect résumé. You'll work directly with founders and customer-facing teammates, explaining technical tradeoffs clearly and without condescension. If local to SF Bay Area, expect three days per week in the SoMa office; fully remote US candidates are also welcome (remote expectation does not apply).
Required: Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, 5+ years backend development (Java, Go, Python, Node.js, etc.). Ideal: 3+ years Kotlin or JVM languages, experience with asynchronous event-based systems (SQS, Kafka, PubSub), familiarity with existing tech stack, production-grade code shipped with AI coding tools.
Tech stack: Kotlin, Micronaut, PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS (ECS), React, TypeScript, GitHub, Slack, Linear.
