As a Backend Software Engineer, you'll build the systems and infrastructure powering how users process and derive insights from audio data used to train AI models. You'll design and build scalable backend systems and core data processing pipelines that handle terabytes of speech data daily. Your responsibilities include architecting and maintaining APIs and services used by thousands of users, building and deploying LLM and DSP-based solutions to enhance customer understanding of dataset features, and iterating rapidly on research hypotheses by working closely with researchers and operations teams.
You'll work with technologies including Node.js, tRPC, PostgreSQL, AWS, Trigger.dev, WebRTC, FFmpeg, and TypeScript. The engineering team is product-focused, moving fast, owning work end-to-end, and shipping to production daily. You'll collaborate with researchers, infrastructure specialists, and ML experts in a tight-knit, ambitious team.
Required qualifications include 2+ years of backend engineering experience, strong fundamentals in designing scalable systems and data pipelines, proven track record of delivering customer-value engineering solutions, and experience in high-pace environments with detail-oriented execution. Audio or ML experience is not required but enthusiasm to learn is essential. Bonus qualifications include digital signal processing or speech expertise, production ML deployment experience, and prior team leadership in high-growth settings.
