Nightfall AI is an AI-native, unified data loss prevention and insider risk management platform protecting sensitive data across SaaS apps, GenAI tools, email, and endpoint devices. As a Backend Engineer, you will enable reliable, secure, and scalable platform delivery. You'll architect low-latency, real-time microservices that process and detect sensitive data at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building highly available and secure authentication and API services
- Maintaining and evolving mission-critical internal databases and services
- Ensuring downstream AI models scale for low-latency, real-time inferencing
- Optimizing and operating high-volume auto-scaling streaming data services
- Instrumenting streaming data services for per-customer utilization visibility
- Writing and maintaining documentation for internal and public services
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience
- Expertise in systems/high-level programming languages (Python, Go, Java, C++)
- Proven experience running scalable (thousands of RPS) and reliable (three 9's) systems
- Experience developing complex software systems at scale with production-quality deployment, monitoring, and reliability
- Strong background with large-scale distributed storage and database systems (SQL/NoSQL: MySQL, Cassandra)
- Experience building agentic AI systems at scale: semantic ingestion, summarization, querying, and orchestrating hundreds of parallel agents
- Ability to decompose complex business problems and lead teams in solving them
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale and/or real-time complex data processing pipelines (Kafka, Hadoop, Hive, Storm, Zookeeper)
