Wynd Network builds infrastructure that delivers massive amounts of web data to companies training frontier AI models. The company operates Grass, a bandwidth-sharing network powering a distributed crawler with unique access to high-quality public web data at global scale. They've also built pipelines for ingesting, segmenting, and annotating billions of videos, transcripts, and audio files for dataset creation. As a Backend Engineer, you'll be responsible for building and improving backend code primarily in TypeScript. Your day-to-day work includes setting up and maintaining metrics dashboards for production systems, updating existing code to support new metrics and improve system observability, and setting up alerts while working closely with DevOps to optimize production systems. You'll automate deployments and operational reporting to Slack, test systems in production, identify and troubleshoot issues, and fix bugs. The role also involves helping clean up and improve the existing codebase, writing and maintaining automated tests, improving and optimizing deployment processes, and implementing code enhancements as new requirements emerge. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, 2+ years of backend software engineering experience, solid TypeScript development skills, and strong backend software engineering fundamentals. You should have a good understanding of metrics, monitoring, and alerting, with the ability to debug and troubleshoot production systems. The ability to write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and make reliable improvements to existing systems is essential. Nice-to-have skills include experience with Go, Datadog, OpenObserve, building Slack bots or integrations, and familiarity with web scraping and browser automation tools like Playwright. Wynd is a lean, technical team that moves fast with no red tape or slow decision-making. They're fully remote and prioritize low ego and high output, seeking people who make everyone around them better.
