Salary: USD 130,000 - 170,000 / annual
iCapital is seeking a Backend Engineer with Scala expertise to design and implement systems powering the iCapital platform. You will build high-performance APIs and applications within a microservices architecture using Scala, Ruby, Node.js, and Python.
Key responsibilities include building cloud-native services using Scala with frameworks like Akka and ZIO, developing unit and integration tests using ScalaTest and ZIO Test, participating in stand-up meetings and peer code reviews as part of the standard software development lifecycle and change management process.
You will work closely with the Product Management team throughout the development process, detailing requirements, reviewing work in progress, and addressing issues identified during testing. The role offers the opportunity to learn new technologies with support from management and mentors.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, 5+ years of web-based application development experience, demonstrated understanding of relational or NoSQL database concepts and modeling practices. Experience with Scala, Node.js, or Java is a plus. You should have strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to software development, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
The role is hybrid, with office presence Monday-Thursday and remote flexibility on Friday. Compensation includes a base salary of $130,000–$170,000, equity for all full-time employees, annual performance bonus, employer-matched retirement plan, subsidized healthcare (100% employer-paid dental and vision), telemedicine, virtual mental health counseling, parental leave, and unlimited PTO.
