Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume and registered users, is seeking a Backend Engineer (Java) to join the Know Your Customer Technology Team. This team is building a state-of-the-art KYC platform focused on seamless customer onboarding, innovative product launches, and integration with regional and global compliance vendors. The role emphasizes responsible AI/ML adoption while maintaining adherence to global and local regulatory standards.
In this position, you will collaborate with stakeholders to convert business requirements into well-tested, high-quality services. You'll proactively drive performance tuning, troubleshoot production incidents, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation. You are expected to write code that follows best practices, advocate for engineering excellence, and mentor junior team members. This is a senior individual contributor role with cross-team collaboration responsibilities in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
The Know Your Customer Technology Team operates within Binance's broader mission to build an inclusive financial ecosystem using blockchain and digital assets. You'll work alongside world-class talent in a flat organizational structure with autonomy to tackle unique, fast-paced projects. REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience building high-throughput distributed applications
- Proficient in core Java and the Spring Framework
- Proficient in MySQL; familiar with at least one NoSQL database
- Proficient in distributed system design; familiar with at least one messaging middleware and underlying design principles
- Quick learner with ability to perform under pressure
- Able to collaborate with remote teams across different time zones
- Bilingual English/Mandarin required to coordinate with overseas partners and stakeholders
DESIRABLE:
- Performance tuning experience on JVM, SQL, RPC, etc.
- Experience in KYC or compliance
