The Connectivity Team owns strategically critical products including Verkada Gateways (bringing devices online globally), Security Trailers (mobile security units), and Quality Sensors (environmental intelligence). This is a vertically integrated team touching embedded firmware, cellular modems, Linux networking, cloud backend services, and frontend systems. In this Backend Engineer role, you will build scalable distributed systems handling high traffic from hundreds of thousands of devices deployed worldwide. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and implementing scalable microservice architectures for low-latency, high-throughput, high-reliability systems - Working with high-concurrency key-value storage (Redis, DynamoDB) and relational databases (Postgres) - Implementing logging and message passing systems (Kafka, SQS) - Deploying services via Terraform and Kubernetes - Developing large-scale systems for remote device interaction and configuration - Designing and implementing features incorporating computer vision - Building clean APIs using Python and/or Go You bring 1+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments, a BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, and experience developing and launching products. You're comfortable with Python and/or Go, REST APIs, and agile team environments.
