Octopus Energy is Britain's largest energy supplier, founded on the mission to build a truly digital energy platform and accelerate the green energy transition. The company combines world-class technology with customer-obsessed teams to deliver innovative products across heat pumps, solar, EVs, smart tariffs, and renewable generation.
You'll join one of two high-impact backend engineering teams:
**Devices Team**: Since launching Home Mini (2022), Cosy Heat Pumps (2023), and Charge EV Charger (2025), Octopus has built a growing portfolio of connected home devices. You'll work with cross-functional backend and mobile engineers to design and build integrations for existing and new devices within the Octopus Energy app. Current focus includes the Nook family of home batteries and upcoming products in the pipeline. This role offers the chance to architect solutions that scale low-carbon technology across UK homes.
**Low Carbon Tech Team**: This team installs EV chargers, solar panels, batteries, and heat pumps into homes at scale. You'll help build a new dedicated engineering and product platform to reimagine the customer journey—making the installation and integration process fast, transparent, and predictable. You'll design platform architecture, data integrations, and automations that eliminate real-world friction in scaling electrotech deployment.
Both teams operate within a flat hierarchy and agile culture that values innovation, flexibility, and authenticity. You'll have real ownership, work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and data teams, and see the tangible impact of your work in the real world. The role offers variety and the opportunity to solve complex energy transition challenges with speed and creativity.
