As a Backend Engineer, you'll join a small, autonomous, and highly collaborative Agile team supporting one of these verticals. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining scalable microservices that power the platform's search and discovery, bidding, curation, logistics, payments, and support systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building end-to-end microservices with ownership of quality, resilience, and maintainability throughout their lifecycle
- Collaborating across product, design, frontend, backend, and mobile teams to deliver product innovations
- Identifying opportunities to improve engineering processes and advocating for development best practices
- Fixing bugs, refactoring code, and raising overall product quality
- Experimenting with new technologies during Technical Week (a dedicated innovation week after every two sprints)
You'll bring 7+ years of software development experience with strong object-oriented programming foundations, plus 3+ years working on customer-facing products in e-commerce, fintech, or SaaS. You have expertise designing and deploying backend services focused on high availability, low latency, and consistency. You understand API design, SQL, and relational databases. The tech stack is primarily Ruby, though prior Ruby experience isn't required if you're eager to learn. You communicate clearly in English, contribute collaboratively to the team, and think solution-oriented when solving problems.
