As a Backend Engineer, you will join one of three autonomous engineering verticals—Demand, Supply, or Fulfilment—working in a small, highly collaborative Agile team. You'll have end-to-end responsibility for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and improving scalable microservices and features that power the platform's search and discovery, bidding, curation, logistics, payments, and support systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building end-to-end scalable microservices and features with ownership of quality, resilience, and maintainability throughout their lifecycle
- Collaborating closely with product designers, product owners, and frontend, backend, and mobile engineers to deliver product innovations
- Identifying opportunities to improve engineering processes and advocating for development best practices
- Fixing bugs and refactoring code to maintain product reliability and maintainability
- Participating in Technical Week—a dedicated period for experimentation, creativity, and knowledge sharing across domains
The role operates within a flat organizational structure where every engineer has broad scope and direct impact on customers and business outcomes. You'll work in small, autonomous teams responsible for their microservices from design through deployment and maintenance.

Requirements:
- 7+ years of software development experience with strong object-oriented programming foundations
- 3+ years of experience working with customer-facing products in e-commerce, fintech, or SaaS industries
- Expertise in designing, implementing, and deploying backend services with focus on high availability, low latency, and consistency
- Strong understanding of API design, SQL, and relational databases
- Excellent English communication skills with comfort raising concerns, sharing ideas, and documenting work
- Collaborative mindset with ability to contribute to the team, take initiative, and help when needed
- Solution-oriented thinking with ability to identify opportunities and explore alternative approaches
- Commitment to growth and ownership of skill development through learning new technologies
- Prior Ruby experience is not essential if passionate about learning new things
