The company is revolutionizing how developers build, trace, and automate API workflows through Postman Flows, a visual programming tool with a drag-and-drop interface.
You'll join the Flows team as a Backend and Systems Engineer, responsible for scaling and maintaining the Flows runtime system—a mission-critical cloud automation platform focused on low latency, high throughput, and high availability. This role combines hands-on backend development with systems thinking and mentorship.
Key responsibilities include:
**Backend Development & Operations**: Develop high-quality, responsive APIs using modern backend technologies (Node.js/Golang). Ensure APIs are secure, optimized for speed, scalability, and availability. Maintain operational excellence through test-driven development, strong test coverage, and detailed playbooks.
**Collaboration & Teamwork**: Work closely with frontend engineers, designers, and product managers to design innovative backend solutions. Participate in code reviews and share knowledge to maintain high code quality. Collaborate across teams spanning multiple time zones.
**System Integration & Maintenance**: Continuously benchmark, refactor, and optimize code for high performance and availability. Develop tools to automate engineering workflows. Ensure uptime, reliability, and effective troubleshooting through observability and operational support.
**Cloud Infrastructure & Management**: Design, build, and manage scalable, secure software and infrastructure in Kubernetes environments across AWS, Azure, or GCP. Use Crossplane for multi-cloud resource management. Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Helm.
You'll serve as a role model and mentor to other engineers, making key technical decisions and improvements while shipping and iterating on a weekly basis to prepare the product for GA.
**Requirements**: 8+ years shipping production-level software; strong foundation in Node.js and/or Golang; proven track record delivering impactful projects independently and as part of a team; hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure APIs; deep commitment to test-driven development and operational excellence.
**Nice-to-have**: Experience contributing to 0-to-1 products; background with developer tools or technical products; familiarity with Serverless or PaaS developer tools.
