Relativity Space is building Terran R, a 3D-printed rocket designed to deliver payloads to orbit. The Avionics team owns the full lifecycle of the vehicle's electrical control systems—from design through flight operations. You'll join as an Avionics Test Systems Engineer focused on ground support systems that enable engine testing, vehicle integration, and launch operations.
In this role, you will design, build, and integrate critical ground systems that interface directly with flight hardware and avionics. You'll lead the development of robust electrical and mechanical test infrastructure that operates in challenging launch environments. Working cross-functionally with avionics, propulsion, structures, software, and operations teams, you'll ensure ground systems are reliable, scalable, and safe under high-stakes conditions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, development, build, and integration of ground support equipment for engine test, vehicle integration, and launch
- Collaboration across vehicle, propulsion, avionics, software, test, and operations teams to deliver systems on tight timelines
- Oversight of fabrication, bring-up, and validation of test systems, including electrical testing, calibration, and functional checks
- Authoring interface control documents (ICDs) and engineering release drawings to align ground support equipment with flight hardware
- Work with safety, operations, and launch teams to ensure compliance and operability under demanding conditions
You'll have high ownership of components and systems from concept through deployment, with rapid iteration cycles and direct visibility into your work at the launchpad. The Avionics team intentionally combines design, manufacturing, and test to enable fast feedback loops and deep cross-functional integration.
