Rocket Lab is seeking an Avionics Test and Launch Engineer II to join the Test and Launch Engineering team responsible for testing, launch, and mission operations of the Electron and Neutron launch vehicles. This role spans the full lifecycle from stack testing through pre-launch processing, launch operations, and on-orbit operations, with additional responsibility for configuration, checkout, and operation of related facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include developing, integrating, and testing avionics and electrical systems for both Electron and Neutron launch vehicles. You will oversee the configuration and checkout of avionics systems, lead and manage testing projects for avionics and electrical subsystems, and mentor and train other operators within the Integrated Operations team on avionics and electrical systems. This is a hands-on technical role with leadership components, requiring deep expertise in avionics integration and test methodologies.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in aerospace avionics, electrical systems integration, and test engineering. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, hardware-focused environment where real missions depend on your work. Rocket Lab is the third most-launched rocket provider globally (Electron in 2024) and is developing Neutron, a medium-lift reusable launch vehicle for mega constellations, interplanetary payloads, and human spaceflight support.
This position is based at Wallops Island, Virginia, a key Rocket Lab launch facility, and offers the opportunity to directly impact the future of commercial spaceflight and space access.
