Salary: USD 115,000 - 155,000 / annual
Rocket Lab is seeking an Avionics Test and Launch Engineer II to join the Test and Launch Engineering team at their Wallops Island facility. This role is part of the division responsible for testing, launch, and mission operations of Electron and Neutron launch vehicles, spanning from stack testing through pre-launch processing, launch operations, and on-orbit operations. The team also manages configuration, checkout, and operation of related facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
In this position, you will develop, integrate, and test avionics and electrical systems for both Electron and Neutron launch vehicles. You'll oversee the configuration and checkout of avionics systems, lead and manage testing projects for avionics and electrical systems, and mentor other operators within the Integrated Operations team on these critical systems. You'll develop Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) related to ground- and vehicle-level electrical hardware, and author, review, and execute operations procedures.
You'll bring a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic engineering) and 8+ years of experience in engineering design, test, and/or operations with a focus on electrical/software engineering. Nice-to-have qualifications include experience with launch vehicles or spacecraft (integration, testing, launch, or mission operations), proficiency in Java, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages, software development skills with web-based tools (HTML, XML), networking knowledge (TCP/IP, UDP, multicast protocols), and electrical systems expertise.
The role involves prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer work, with occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
