Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket to deliver payloads to orbit using advanced 3D printing manufacturing. The Avionics System Integration and Test team is responsible for integrating and validating avionics hardware at the system level, overseeing critical checkouts during vehicle build, stage hotfire, and launch operations. As an Avionics Systems Test Engineer II, Test Platforms, you will design, develop, and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) testbeds for avionics subsystems. You'll work closely with avionics and flight software teams to understand testing requirements and develop appropriate test systems. Key responsibilities include: - Design and build HITL testbeds to conduct vehicle mission simulations - Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to derive simulation platform requirements - Oversee integration of avionics electrical systems, simulation hardware/software, and auxiliary support equipment - Develop, document, and execute avionics system verification/validation plans - Drive data reviews for verification/validation testing on HITL platforms - Support vehicle software releases and Run-for-Record testing on HITL platforms You'll need a BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field, plus 5+ years of experience with complex system design, testing, and architecture. Required skills include proficiency with electronics test equipment (power supplies, data acquisition systems like NI/Beckhoff, oscilloscopes, signal generators), understanding of requirements capture and V&V processes, familiarity with communication protocols (Ethernet, CAN, UART, SPI), and scripting in Python or MATLAB. Nice-to-have experience includes HITL test systems, complex operations (flight test, launch, manufacturing), and wire harness design.
