Impulse is seeking an Avionics Operations Engineer to drive manufacturing excellence in avionics production. You will own end-to-end operational improvements across a complex manufacturing environment producing electronic and optical hardware including PCBAs, harnessing, RF components, star trackers, solar modules, and battery packs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute value stream mapping, capacity planning, and production floor layouts to optimize material flow and manufacturing process efficiency
- Design and implement data-collection and visualization tools to track production metrics and KPIs, enabling data-driven decision-making
- Apply operational excellence methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen) to reduce cycle times, eliminate waste, and increase yield
- Maintain cleanroom facilities to AS9100 cleanliness and quality standards
- Partner with Avionics Design and Test teams to transition new products from prototype development to full-scale rate production
- Optimize and accelerate both existing and novel manufacturing processes
- Identify and resolve manufacturing bottlenecks and pain points in collaboration with the Avionics Manufacturing team
- Support capital projects including new facility setup, automation initiatives, and capability development
- Leverage MRP and ERP systems with enterprise teams to drive system enhancements
This is a technical, hands-on role in a development-heavy environment requiring execution on aggressive timelines and rapid iteration.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of demonstrated operations or industrial engineering experience
- Proven experience developing and improving manufacturing processes
- Extensive experience with ERP and MES systems
- Extensive experience creating dashboards and data visualization systems for production tracking
- Experience with Siemens NX
