Impulse is seeking a Battery Engineer to develop next-generation lithium-ion battery packs for spacecraft. This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full product lifecycle—from concept through production—in a fast-paced, high-reliability environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop lithium-ion battery packs to meet mission-critical requirements
- Own the complete product lifecycle from initial concept to full-rate production
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams to integrate battery systems
- Generate electrical, structural, and thermal models to validate performance and safety
- Troubleshoot technical challenges and communicate solutions to cross-functional stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with lithium-ion battery qualification and safety standards (e.g., UN 38.3)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
- Professional experience in battery development
- Familiarity with lithium-ion battery qualification and safety standards
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting electronics
- Strong technical communication skills
This is an open-level position; leveling and compensation will be commensurate with experience. The role is based in Redondo Beach and offers the chance to work on cutting-edge space vehicle technology.
