The Exploration Company is developing Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle designed for cargo transport and eventual human missions. As Avionics Manufacturing Team Lead, you will manage a team of avionics technicians responsible for assembling, integrating, and testing avionics equipment for the Nyx spacecraft.
You will lead daily operations including task planning, team coordination, and progress tracking against programme milestones. You'll maintain detailed production schedules, enforce quality standards throughout assembly and integration, and serve as the first point of escalation for technical and workload issues. Your team will work in the avionics lab, and you'll be hands-on in helping solve workshop problems.
Key responsibilities include defining and documenting manufacturing procedures, developing work instructions and test protocols in coordination with design and quality engineers. You'll identify process bottlenecks and implement efficiency improvements without compromising quality. You'll act as the primary manufacturing interface to avionics design engineers, translating design intent into executable production tasks and participating in design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR).
You must ensure all manufacturing activities are fully documented and traceable, maintaining build records, non-conformance reports, and configuration control logs. Compliance with space-grade standards (ECSS, NASA-STD) and internal quality procedures is essential.
Required: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Aerospace Engineering. Minimum 4–6 years of hands-on experience in electronics or avionics assembly, integration, and test. Demonstrated team leadership experience in production or integration environments. Strong understanding of avionics systems and electronics assembly processes (PCB assembly, harness routing, connector crimping, conformal coating). Ability to read electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and ICD documents. Fluent English; German is a plus.
Desirable: Space, defence, or aerospace sector experience. Familiarity with ECSS/NASA standards and derating practices. Quality management systems experience (EN9100, ISO 9001). Knowledge of environmental testing (vibration, thermal vacuum, EMC).
