As an Avionics Engineer, you will architect, design, configure, and continuously improve electrical subsystems for innovative jet engines and aircraft. Your work bridges hardware and software in a formative development stage, requiring frequent cross-discipline problem-solving. You will implement robust avionics designs from initial concept through design, validation, and flight operations, with direct responsibility for building avionics systems that interface with other aircraft systems while maintaining reliability through fault-tolerant methodology. Your designs will be proven through rigorous subsystem and aircraft-level integration testing before flight. You embody the "test-like-you-fly" philosophy.
Key responsibilities include: architecting avionics systems for flight hardware and ground-based test infrastructure including hardware-in-the-loop test beds; collaborating with other engineering disciplines on system trades and implementation; owning avionics component selection, analysis, and integration; drafting engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring pinout diagrams; developing and maintaining software controllers and configuration for operating hardware systems; and troubleshooting, root-causing, and resolving problems in a rapid hardware iteration environment.
The company highly values in-office work to foster collaboration and strengthen culture, with five days per week in the office considered essential to the role.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with wire harnesses and associated sub-components
- Familiarity with installing and troubleshooting various electronic sensors and components
- Competence with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.)
- Experience with 3D CAD software
- Software fluency, enabling automation of test or analysis tasks
- Flexibility to work in fast-paced environment
- Attentive to detail and maintain high level of quality in all work
