Impulse is seeking an Avionics Electrical Engineer to design and test custom circuit boards and avionics devices for Electra, their electric propulsion system. In this role, you will develop circuit boards for spacecraft electric propulsion systems with emphasis on actuator drivers and power converters. You will perform rigorous analyses and simulations of avionics devices and systems, and act as the Responsible Engineering authority for your hardware, owning designs from board bring-up and debugging through qualification and flight operations. Key responsibilities include defining hardware interfaces, verifying requirements, and partnering closely with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, propulsion, and test teams. You will contribute across the full spectrum of spacecraft electronics development—from designing new circuit boards to testing, debugging, integrating onto space vehicles, and supporting operations in space. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, proficiency with electronic component selection, analysis, simulation, schematics, and layout, and knowledge of analog and power circuit design including ADC/DAC converters, op-amps, filtering, and power/signal integrity. Hands-on experience troubleshooting electronics problems at the board level is essential, as is the ability to communicate technical challenges and resolve concerns effectively.
