Impulse is seeking an Avionics Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and test custom circuit boards and avionics devices for spacecraft. You will work on all aspects of spacecraft electronics development, from initial circuit board design through testing, debugging, and integration onto flight vehicles.
Key responsibilities include developing circuit boards with emphasis on analog, digital, or control electronics; performing rigorous analyses and simulations of avionics devices and systems; and acting as the Responsible Engineering authority for your hardware designs from lab bring-up through qualification and flight operations. You will define hardware interfaces, verify requirements, and establish high technical standards. The role requires close collaboration with software engineers, propulsion engineers, GNC (guidance, navigation, and control) engineers, and cross-functional teams including firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and test specialists.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. You must demonstrate proficiency with electronic component selection, analysis, simulation, schematics, and PCB layout. Strong knowledge of mixed-signal and analog circuit design is essential, including experience with analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, operational amplifiers, filtering, and signal integrity. Hands-on experience troubleshooting electronics problems at the board level is required. You should be able to communicate technical challenges clearly, explain design rationale, and resolve engineering concerns effectively.
