Rocket Lab is seeking an Avionics Automation Test Engineer II to join the Space Systems team at their Long Beach headquarters. This role focuses on automating and improving testing efficiency for avionics components and completed satellites used in space missions. Key responsibilities include leading the deployment and utilization of Rocket Lab's internal test automation platform for future spacecraft programs, providing critical support to the Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) team during spacecraft test campaigns, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including systems, flight software, ground software, and operations to add features and manage software deployments. You will investigate and resolve bugs and issues encountered by other teams, ensuring robust testing infrastructure. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline, 2+ years of experience in the space industry (ideally with spacecraft test, systems, or spacecraft software background), 2+ years of programming experience with distributed applications, Linux proficiency, and the ability to obtain a Top-Secret security clearance. Desirable qualifications include existing Secret or Top-Secret clearance, experience with Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript, familiarity with software deployment tools like Docker or Kubernetes, networking and IT experience, and knowledge of software unit testing frameworks such as pytest or robotframework. Rocket Lab builds rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems for space missions ranging from interplanetary exploration to national security initiatives, having enabled over 1,700 missions.
