REGENT is building Seagliders—wing-in-ground-effect craft that travel just above water at 180 mph with 180-mile range on current battery technology. The company is scaling from prototype to full production and seeking an Autonomy Test & Integration Engineer to take the perception system from the laboratory to open-ocean deployment.
This role is split between field work and onshore infrastructure. On the water, you'll work with the test and operations team to mount and calibrate cameras and radar on surrogate vessels, collect data against live vessel traffic, and adapt to changing weather and conditions. Onshore, you'll build the replay and hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure that allows the team to rerun sea days on the bench, develop calibration tooling, and establish the integration pipeline for new perception software onto vehicles.
Key responsibilities include:
- Running perception field tests: defining test objectives, setting up sensor rigs, and executing tests on surrogate vessels
- Hands-on integration: deploying software changes to real hardware and troubleshooting across all supported platforms
- Owning replay tooling: operating and extending hardware-in-the-loop and data-replay infrastructure
- Maintaining perception system reliability across platforms
- Testing and signing off on software changes from bench through deployment
- Carrying perception capabilities to customer and U.S. defense missions
- Defining autonomy test scenarios as the autonomy program expands
Major perception test campaigns are scheduled for the next year and will depend on the infrastructure and processes you build.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated professional experience in robotics, autonomy, or perception software, including hands-on hardware-in-the-loop or data-replay work
- Field deployment experience, ideally including sensor testing on boats or comparable surrogate vehicles
- Experience testing software on real hardware from code review through deployment
- Strong C/C++ for real-time or embedded systems; working Python; comfort administering Linux systems
- U.S. person status as defined by ITAR (22 CFR 120.62) due to export control regulations
- Bonus: autonomy algorithm concepts, ARPA radar tracking, boating or sea-trials background, ground-truth systems, basic electrical troubleshooting, DO-178C familiarity
