BillionToOne is a publicly traded genomics and molecular diagnostics company transforming prenatal and cancer diagnostics. We are seeking Automation Service Engineering Associates I/II to join our Service Engineering team supporting clinical patient testing at our CLIA-regulated lab in Menlo Park.
In this role, you will be the primary service responder for laboratory operations, responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining sophisticated laboratory automation equipment. You will work as part of a dedicated team ensuring continuous, reliable operation of critical diagnostic systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting and triaging equipment issues, coordinating with vendors as needed
- Executing routine maintenance and performing Installation, Operational, and Performance Qualifications on laboratory equipment
- Maintaining detailed records of issues, resolutions, and equipment status
- Drafting documentation related to equipment operation and maintenance per Good Document Practices
- Identifying and implementing process improvements
- Managing equipment parts inventory and comprehensive equipment records
- Supporting special projects as assigned
You will work Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday, 2:30pm-11pm shifts (includes 30% PM shift differential).
Required qualifications:
- BS degree in a scientific discipline
- For Associate II: 1+ years servicing liquid handlers OR 2+ years in a technical service role
- Familiarity with coding basics and flow control logic
- Understanding of clinical laboratory assays and applications
- Strong problem-solving ability with minimal direction
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication
Desirable experience includes liquid handler script troubleshooting, programming/coding, CLIA-regulated environments, and training program development.
