Verkor seeks an experienced Automation & Controls Engineer to join the Process R&D team, responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced automation solutions for both production and new system development. The role focuses on enabling high-efficiency, low-cost, and highly reliable automated processes aligned with the company's vision of an unmanned smart factory. Key responsibilities include developing and troubleshooting PLC and HMI programs; leading the design and integration of complex automation systems for manufacturing processes; managing automation projects from conception through completion; optimizing production lines by reducing cycle time, downtime, and improving quality; implementing control strategies to enhance system performance; identifying process improvement opportunities; reviewing and signing off on detailed design phase outcomes; participating in control equipment evaluations at vendor sites; and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to validate automation solutions. The engineer will work closely with mechanical, vision, and process engineers to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions into production lines. Beyond implementation, the role involves leading optimization efforts, troubleshooting complex automation issues, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position reports to the Automation & Vision Systems Development Group Leader. Required qualifications include a Master's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related field; minimum 5 years of professional experience designing and implementing automation and control systems; advanced proficiency in IEC 61131-3 programming languages; hands-on experience with PLC and HMI programming (Mitsubishi, Siemens, Schneider, or similar); experience integrating and commissioning high-volume manufacturing equipment (preferably battery industry); in-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols (CC-Link IE TSN, Profinet, Modbus TCP); experience with OPC UA connectivity and MES interfaces; technical documentation writing; and strong English communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with electrical schematic design using CAD tools (EPlan, AutoCAD) and evaluation/design/implementation of safety functions. The ideal candidate demonstrates multi-tasking ability, excellent teamwork, strong organizational and result-driven mindset, ability to work under pressure, and a positive, can-do attitude.
