Salary: USD 78,000 - 110,000 / annual
Zipline is the world's largest autonomous drone delivery service, operating on four continents and completing millions of deliveries of blood, vaccines, medical supplies, food, and retail products. You will lead day-to-day operations across 3–5 Zipline charging sites in the greater Austin area, ensuring each location is staffed, safe, operationally ready, and meeting performance expectations. This is a hands-on management role requiring direct oversight of Fulfillment Operations Coordinators, Fulfillment Operators, and site support teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directly manage and develop site teams across multiple locations
- Build and maintain staffing schedules aligned with operating hours, demand forecasts, and aircraft availability
- Manage labor planning and budgets across assigned charging sites
- Ensure sites open on time, remain operational throughout the day, and close safely
- Partner with Flight Operations, Customer Operations, Maintenance, and Service Engineering to resolve issues quickly
- Maintain site readiness including charging equipment, aircraft availability, inventory, and general conditions
- Monitor key performance metrics (fulfillment speed, operational uptime, aircraft availability, quality, customer experience)
- Use data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement
- Lead process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reliability, safety, and team performance
- Conduct regular site visits, audits, and coaching sessions to maintain consistent operating standards
- Support incident response and ensure proper documentation and escalation
- Maintain strong relationships with Walmart and other site partners
- Support launch of new charging sites and rollout of updated procedures and technology
- Develop team members and build a strong leadership pipeline
The ideal candidate is an experienced operations leader comfortable working in fast-paced, physical environments. You are organized, data-driven, calm under pressure, and willing to roll up your sleeves to solve problems in the field. This is an onsite role requiring candidates to live in the greater Austin area and travel between charging sites as needed.
**Requirements:**
- 3+ years of experience in operations, warehouse logistics, fulfillment, retail management, field operations, or related field
- 1+ year of experience supervising teams, multiple locations, or operational workstreams
- Experience managing schedules, labor planning, budgets, and performance expectations
- Strong coaching, communication, and team leadership skills
- Ability to use data and operational metrics to make decisions and improve performance
- Comfort working independently in the field and traveling between sites
- Ability to work in fast-changing environment and adjust priorities quickly
- Hands-on leadership style and willingness to perform physical operational work when needed
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
- Must successfully pass background check, drug test, and E-Verify process
