Salary: USD 93,600 - 166,400 / annual

Lunar Energy is building clean energy products to electrify homes and create virtual power plants. As an ATE (Automated Test Equipment) Mechanical Engineer, you will own the full product development lifecycle of mechanical systems for home energy products, working hands-on across design, prototyping, manufacturing, and production support. Day-to-day responsibilities include: - Collaborating with cross-functional teams (electrical engineers, automated test engineers, technicians, vendors) to refine product designs for market impact, speed, and reliability - Brainstorming and evaluating design solutions, from back-of-envelope calculations to physical testing and multi-physics simulations - Designing high-performance, reliable, easy-to-manufacture parts and assemblies using high-volume manufacturing processes - Creating and reviewing 2D/3D drawings, specifications, and bills of materials - Managing cost and mass roll-ups, vendor relationships, and engineering releases - Defining manufacturing processes and inspection methods - Supporting prototype development and production at domestic and international contract manufacturing sites (10-20% travel) - Generating work instructions, preventive maintenance documentation, and design-for-manufacturing reports - Conducting design analysis including tolerance stackup, FEA, FMEA, and root cause analysis Required/Desired Skills and Experience: - Extensive 3D modeling experience (Onshape, NX, Solidworks) - Advanced 2D drawing creation and GD&T knowledge - Design analysis capabilities: tolerance analysis, statics/load path, FEA, FMEA, root cause analysis - Experience with test fixtures, jigs, and PCBA bed-of-nails fixtures - Knowledge of fine-pitch assemblies, strain gauge measurements, and stress analysis on PCBAs - Thermal management and pneumatic systems knowledge - Prototyping skills: 3D printing, machining, sheet metal, laser cutting, general machine shop tools - Familiarity with electronic test equipment and basic electromechanical troubleshooting - Manufacturing communication: DFM reviews, First Article Inspection, PPAP, PFMEA - Strong written and verbal communication; ability to drive projects cross-functionally - Ability to give and receive feedback collaboratively
