ClickHouse, a Forbes Cloud 100 company and leader in real-time analytics and data warehousing, is expanding its global support services team. This Senior Consulting Engineer role combines hands-on engineering, development support, and tiered support in a unique hybrid position serving enterprise customers.
You will split your time between project engineering and consultative support. In project engineering (50%), you'll work as part of customer projects handling design, architecture, integration, implementation, and documentation—including research, benchmarking, performance testing, reference architectures, sizing, migrations, and tooling. In consultative support (50%), you'll provide case-driven support to strategic users and customers, assisting with implementation, onboarding, production deployment, and proof-of-concept work.
Key responsibilities include providing hands-on architecture and technical guidance; handling L1–L3 support cases when not assigned to major projects; collaborating closely with product management, engineering, and sales teams to inform roadmaps and account plans; creating and contributing to public and internal documentation, knowledge base articles, learning materials, reference architectures, blogs, and benchmarks; supporting team growth through hiring and mentoring; and maintaining 24/7 high-quality support in a globally distributed environment with shift and on-call availability (up to ~35% regional travel expected).
You bring 5+ years in professional services, support, technical account management, engineering/SRE, and/or project management. You have 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing, operating, and/or supporting scalable, fault-tolerant distributed database management systems. You possess broad and deep technical knowledge in DBMS, OLAP, cloud/SaaS platforms, distributed systems software engineering, Linux/Unix, Kubernetes, systems/network administration, and big data. You've led and completed large technical projects with experienced engineers. You have expertise in public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their IaaS services.
Preferred qualifications include ClickHouse experience, open-source software involvement, cloud platform hands-on use, and experience with data pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, RabbitMQ). You excel at communication, find customer-facing work rewarding, and thrive in collaborative technical environments.
