Nox Metals is a technology-enabled metals supplier serving aerospace and defense manufacturers. The company operates production and distribution facilities in Metro Detroit and Los Angeles, using software and automation to deliver aluminum plate, bar, and rounds faster than traditional industry practices. As an Associate Supply Chain Engineer, you will optimize how material flows through Nox Metals' operations—from purchasing decisions through delivery to customers. This is an early-career role combining analytical work with hands-on operational involvement across purchasing, inventory management, production coordination, and logistics. Key responsibilities: - Translate demand and inventory data into actionable purchasing and transfer recommendations - Place and track purchase orders; resolve supplier exceptions and performance issues - Monitor lead times, availability, service levels, and material exposure - Analyze shortages, excess inventory, expedite costs, and recurring planning errors - Coordinate inbound freight and material movements between facilities - Maintain accurate supplier, item, and purchasing data in systems - Collaborate with sales and operations teams to understand priorities and demand changes - Build reports and simple tools that improve daily decision-making - Visit the production floor to reconcile system data with physical reality - Own improvement projects with measurable outcomes in cost, availability, or speed You are analytical, organized, and detail-oriented. You're comfortable with spreadsheets, data analysis, and quantitative tradeoffs. You communicate clearly with suppliers and internal teams, understand manufacturing and logistics constraints, and remain calm when plans change. You're willing to handle routine transactional work while systematically improving the systems around it, and you take accountability for results rather than just recommendations. Nice-to-have qualifications: - Degree or experience in supply chain, industrial engineering, operations, analytics, or related field - Prior experience in purchasing, planning, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution - Familiarity with ERP, inventory management, or business-intelligence tools - Experience with SQL, Python, optimization, or statistical analysis - Comfort using AI tools for research, analysis, and automation The role is full-time and in-person, based in either Los Angeles or Detroit.
