Salary: USD 80,000 - 120,000 / annual
Centivax is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing broad-spectrum vaccines and therapeutics against mutation-diverse pathogens using computational bioengineering and immunoengineering. The company recently initiated a Phase 1 clinical study of a universal influenza vaccine candidate.
The Associate Scientist will execute critical virology research under the direction of the lead virologist, supporting the development of novel vaccines and broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) against rapidly evolving viruses including influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and other pathogens.
Key responsibilities include performing high-throughput viral microneutralization and hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) assays to assess anti-influenza antibody efficacy; growing, maintaining, and characterizing viral and pseudoviral stocks; conducting mammalian cell culture and transfection experiments; performing viral plaque assays and TCID50 assays; maintaining accurate experimental records in validated electronic lab notebooks under GLP standards; analyzing and interpreting data with detailed reporting; ensuring compliance with biosafety and regulatory guidelines in a BSL-2+ environment; collaborating cross-functionally with immunology and protein engineering teams; and assisting with manuscript preparation and scientific presentations.
Required qualifications include an M.S. in virology, molecular biology, microbiology, or related field (or B.S. with 2+ years relevant experience); hands-on experience with high-throughput viral neutralization and HAI assays; mammalian cell culture and viral propagation experience; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience with biosafety protocols and viral pathogen handling; and experience with clinical trial samples. Desired qualifications include familiarity with RNA viruses and mRNA-based vaccine technologies, prior BSL-2/BSL-2+ laboratory work, data analysis software proficiency (GraphPad Prism, Python, R), and experience with HIV, CoV, malaria, or human herpes viruses.
