Dispatch is a biotech company developing novel cancer therapies leveraging viral vectors, universal targets, and cytokine biology. Founded on pioneering work from leading researchers at UPenn, UCSF, Stanford, and Memorial Sloan Kettering, the company aims to engineer a universal treatment across solid tumors. Reporting to the Director of Upstream Process Development, you will contribute to upstream viral process development to advance the company's pipeline of T cell and viral vector-based products toward clinical deployment. This is a hands-on role in an early-stage biotech setting where you'll build manufacturing capabilities and execute critical experiments. Key responsibilities include: - Setting up and organizing viral vector process development capabilities - Day-to-day lab operations: equipment maintenance, materials ordering, inventory management, buffer and process aid preparation - Developing bench-scale suspension culture processes for viral vector generation in shake flasks and bioreactors - Designing and executing experiments for process characterization and technology transfer between research, operations, and external partners (CDMOs, suppliers) - Serving as a process development subject matter expert internally and externally - Experimental execution, data analysis, and detailed lab notebook maintenance - Authoring and reviewing technical documents including batch records, SOPs, development reports, and regulatory submissions - External representation at professional meetings and regulatory interactions Required qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, bioengineering, biotechnology, or related field with 2+ years relevant experience, OR Master's degree in a relevant discipline - Hands-on experience with viral vector upstream processes, particularly stirred-tank bioreactor operation and experimentation - Strong technical writing and documentation skills - Ability to work collaboratively across research, operations, and external teams - Commitment to scientific rigor and ownership mindset
