Forge Biologics is seeking an Associate Scientist II in Analytical Development to support the development and optimization of protein-based assays for AAV gene therapy products. Based at The Hearth, a state-of-the-art 200,000-square-foot cGMP facility in Columbus, Ohio, this role is central to ensuring the quality and consistency of gene therapy products.
Key responsibilities include leading the independent execution of complex protein-based assays and troubleshooting technical issues; developing and optimizing assays through design, protocol development, and validation; collaborating with cross-functional scientific teams to analyze and interpret experimental data; mentoring junior team members; contributing to assay transfer activities between teams or sites; participating in project planning to ensure timely delivery of results; assisting in regulatory document preparation and supporting submissions; staying current with industry trends and best practices; implementing quality control measures; and actively engaging in continuous improvement efforts.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant scientific field (biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or equivalent) with proficiency in advanced laboratory techniques related to protein-based assays. Required experience includes assay development and optimization, troubleshooting technical issues, strong data analysis skills, and the ability to generate actionable insights from experimental results. The role involves working in both laboratory and office environments, including time in confined spaces such as clean rooms, with regular use of personal protective equipment. Candidates must be able to identify small details, distinguish colors accurately, and stand/sit for extended periods.
