Hippo is a technology-driven insurance platform that partners with managing general agents (MGAs) to deliver tailored program solutions. The Associate Program Manager plays a foundational role in the underwriting operations of Hippo's Partner Programs business—a fronting platform through which Hippo partners with MGAs to write business nationally. Reporting to the VP of Program Underwriting, you will ensure compliance, reporting, and documentation accuracy across assigned programs while developing underwriting judgment to evaluate MGA-written business. This is a hands-on operations role focused on program administration, regulatory compliance, and data management. Key responsibilities include: • State filing and program onboarding: Assist with state filing review and tracking, compile documentation for senior program manager sign-off ahead of new program launches and renewals, and maintain onboarding checklists to ensure regulatory compliance during launch processes. • Deal-terms accuracy: Review deal-specific business terms and documentation for accuracy and completeness, flagging discrepancies between negotiated terms and program documentation. • Renewal support: Compile performance data, loss history, and program documentation to support renewal strategy planning in collaboration with Finance and Operations. • Strategic objective tracking: Maintain tracking of assigned program performance against strategic objectives set by leadership, providing current data for progress reporting and risk identification. • Reinsurer and treaty reporting: Prepare monthly reinsurer reporting packages for assigned programs, pulling data from underwriting and claims systems to validate ceded premium, loss activity, and treaty compliance. • Account reconciliation: Support reconciliation of account balances due to and from MGA partners and reinsurers, flagging discrepancies to keep cash settlements and treaty accounts current. • Claims and IBNR reporting: Compile claims and treaty reporting inputs, including preliminary IBNR data pulls coordinated with Claims TPA relationships, for quarterly reserve and reporting cycles. • Underwriting guideline and audit support: Gather and organize underwriting guideline documentation for assigned MGA programs and conduct first-pass data validation ahead of underwriting audits. • Audit findings tracking: Track and log program administrator/MGA audit findings and remediation status for ongoing program oversight. • Contract administration: Support loading of signed reinsurance agreements into Hippo's contract database (Lexion) and maintain program files and documentation per recordkeeping standards. • New business support: Participate in new business development support work, including gathering data on prospective MGA partners. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience • Three or more years of Property and Casualty insurance experience in an underwriting, operations, or compliance-support capacity • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with structured data (spreadsheets, reporting templates, filing systems) • Ability to follow defined processes precisely while proactively flagging exceptions or discrepancies • Clear written communication for internal reporting and documentation • Exposure to program business, MGA relationships, or fronting structures (plus) • Familiarity with underwriting and/or reinsurance reporting concepts such as bordereaux and treaty accounts (plus) • Experience with contract management systems (e.g., Lexion) or underwriting/rating systems (plus)
