Pivotal Health is a technology platform helping healthcare providers navigate complex reimbursement landscapes and dispute underpayment from health insurance companies. The company combines software, data, and AI-driven tools to simplify reimbursement workflows, particularly around Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) processes. As Associate General Counsel, you will own Pivotal's legal work on provider billing and payer reimbursement disputes. This role bridges reactive legal work and proactive business strategy, sitting close to company revenue. Key responsibilities include: - Advising on billing and reimbursement questions and setting Pivotal's position with health plans - Negotiating directly with health plans to resolve disputes and recover provider reimbursement - Building and scaling the arbitration award collection playbook as volume grows - Evaluating litigation strategies and developing pre-litigation plans - Translating healthcare regulatory requirements into product and operational systems - Reviewing and negotiating vendor agreements, BAAs, NDAs, and MSAs alongside the Deputy General Counsel - Creating workflows, templates, and legal processes for a scaling legal team - Serving as trusted advisor on general legal matters across the business You will split time between reactive work (fielding questions, negotiating disputes, evaluating litigation paths) and proactive work (partnering with product and operations teams to embed legal judgment into systems and platform features). This is an opportunity to move from advising on problems to shaping how the company solves them at scale, applying state and federal law to novel questions without clean precedent. The role offers direct impact on core systems that help providers get reimbursed fairly, early-stage growth opportunity to shape backend architecture and culture, and a collaborative, low-ego team environment. REQUIREMENTS: - Mid-level healthcare regulatory attorney background from a top law firm or healthcare organization - Work authorization in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship - Extra credit for: HealthTech or healthcare technology experience; IDR or No Surprises Act dispute work; experience working directly with state or federal regulators
