Kraken, a leading cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2011 and trusted by over 10 million users globally, is seeking an Associate in Corporate Development to support its M&A and growth initiatives. The parent company Payward operates multiple financial infrastructure platforms including NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, and CF Benchmarks. In this role, you will be central to Kraken's expansion strategy across multiple dimensions, including mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments worldwide. You'll work on live transactions with cross-functional teams, managing due diligence processes, organizing data rooms, and producing consolidated reports. Key responsibilities include building financial models, trading comparables, precedent transaction analyses, DCF valuations, and accretion/dilution assessments. You'll also screen inbound opportunities, produce initial memos and company teardowns, and support the venture investment portfolio by maintaining deal-term inventories, collecting quarterly KPI updates from portfolio companies, and tracking valuation marks with IRR and MOIC metrics. Additionally, you'll support M&A cash flow forecasting for FP&A and Treasury teams, prepare executive materials and board presentations, and conduct supporting data analysis. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field, with 4+ years of experience at a leading investment bank, venture capital firm, private equity firm, management consultancy, or startup. You should demonstrate excellence in analyzing business models, financial mechanics, and quality; possess strong financial modeling and valuation skills; and exhibit excellent problem-solving, writing, and storytelling abilities. Advanced Excel proficiency and data analysis tool experience are essential. You must be self-directed and capable of managing multiple high-priority transactions in parallel. Nice-to-have qualifications include SQL proficiency, a strong network in crypto or traditional financial markets, and technical background or knowledge of industry software products and services.
