SoFi is seeking an Associate AI Engineer to build agentic AI workflows that transform Finance operations. This is a hands-on builder role within the Finance organization, focused on automating processes from close and reconciliations to forecasting and reporting.
You will develop multi-step AI workflows using approved enterprise AI platforms and agentic coding tools. Key responsibilities include building AI telemetry to measure usage, cost, and ROI across Finance; designing user-facing experiences for AI systems; validating AI outputs to ensure they meet Finance standards for explainability and auditability; and prototyping Finance use cases before handing off to production teams.
The role offers structured domain learning in Finance processes (close, reconciliation, reporting workflows) and SQL. You'll work directly with the AI Transformation Manager for Finance and partner closely with SoFi's AI SDLC and platform teams. This is a build-focused position with a clear progression path through SoFi's AI Engineering ladder to Staff and Senior Staff levels.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or equivalent practical experience. 1–3 years building with LLMs, or exceptional new-grad record with substantial hands-on agent projects (academic, personal, open-source, or internship work). Demonstrated hands-on experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, or agent frameworks with a portfolio you can explain. Working Python for automation, API integration, and prototyping. Basic SQL for querying data. Builder mindset and willingness to learn Finance domain context.
Nice-to-have: exposure to AI evaluation, tracing, or observability; Snowflake, Cortex, or natural-language-to-SQL tooling; Finance/Accounting or regulated data environments; experience building user-facing or internal AI-powered tools.
