Artera is hiring an Associate AI Builder to develop agentic systems that deliver exceptional patient experiences for healthcare providers. You'll own end-to-end delivery for named customers across workflows including scheduling, referral coordination, medication refills, billing, and payment estimation.
In this role, you'll work as a contributing builder within a customer-facing squad, bringing AI-native fluency to deliver solutions from customer discovery through production operation. You'll own customer outcomes independently with supervision, combining product manager curiosity, project manager discipline, and engineering capability. You'll develop subject-matter expertise in healthcare workflows and long-term relationships with senior healthcare executives, while mentoring newer builders and advocating for novel agentic techniques.
Key responsibilities include: owning end-to-end delivery and realized outcomes for named customers; identifying customer pain points and creating roadmaps to solve them; aligning stakeholders and managing onboarding onto solutions; building novel agentic solutions using internal systems; instrumenting and improving reliability of production systems; developing domain expertise in customer segments (primary care, community health, orthopedics) and integration surfaces (scheduling, referrals, patient messaging, EHR/CCaaS); and mentoring newer builders.
You should have 0-2 years of professional experience in software engineering, data science, machine learning, product management, product design, or technical project management (or equivalent demonstrated output; fresh graduates welcome). Essential qualifications include AI-native fluency with measurable leverage—ability to produce output on par with multiple traditional engineers using AI-native tools like Claude Code in the terminal; ability to work directly with customers; curiosity and discipline to scope work and communicate status; and written/verbal communication skills to present complex concepts to teammates, managers, and customers.
Bonus qualifications include prior healthcare technology or digital health experience, hands-on production agentic systems or RAG pipeline building, familiarity with HIPAA/HITRUST/FedRAMP compliance, EHR integration experience (Epic, athena, eClinicalWorks, NextGen), and experience writing evals and quality benchmarks for LLM-driven systems. This role supports a federal-facing product. Artera, founded in 2015, is trusted by 1,000+ specialties and has been recognized as an Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Company, Deloitte Technology Fast 500 honoree, and Built In Best Company to Work For.
