Innovaccer is seeking an AI Researcher to join its growing AI team and help build production-grade AI systems that solve complex healthcare problems at scale. You will work closely with product, engineering, and data teams to design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications, including LLM-based solutions, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and intelligent automation workflows.
In this role, you will take ideas from paper to prototype to production, building the model layer of real products while choosing appropriate model sizes, composing multiple models into working systems, and maintaining product-level accuracy standards. You will write production Python and PyTorch code with sufficient systems knowledge to optimize training performance. You will design rigorous experiments, state hypotheses, run ablations, and report results objectively. You will measure outcomes skeptically, building evaluation frameworks before model development. You will stay current with research literature and distinguish between techniques with lasting impact versus those that won't scale.
You will explain technical work to non-AI stakeholders, including clinicians and operators who provide critical feedback on model outputs. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly curious, and comfortable across the full AI development lifecycle—from experimentation and prototyping through production deployment and optimization.
Required qualifications include an MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field (exceptional BS candidates with substantial research or open-source contributions will be considered). You should have depth beyond coursework: first-author publications at top venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP), meaningful open-source ML contributions, research internships at AI labs, or shipped models with real user adoption. You must have hands-on experience fine-tuning open-weight models, understand parameter-efficient versus full fine-tuning trade-offs, and can justify your choices. Strong Python and PyTorch proficiency is essential, along with familiarity with modern training and serving stacks (HuggingFace, FSDP/DeepSpeed, vLLM/SGLang). You should have exposure to multi-GPU training and understand sharding strategies. Evidence of shipping and completing projects is required.
