Homebound is transforming residential construction by enabling anyone to build a home online, from design through permitting and construction. The company has raised $150M from top-tier VCs including Google and Khosla, and is scaling rapidly across Texas, Colorado, and Florida.
The Architecture Associate will be central to managing Homebound's architectural delivery across projects. You'll coordinate a network of external architectural consultants and partners, guiding design direction while ensuring all deliverables meet Homebound's quality standards. This hybrid model pairs internal architects (setting vision) with external consultants (producing documentation).
Key responsibilities include: managing consultant relationships and onboarding; reviewing and providing feedback on architectural deliverables; preparing construction documents for permitting and responding to jurisdictional comments; ensuring schematic design intent carries through to final documentation; supporting development of Homebound's standardized plan series adapted to local zoning and codes; providing design direction on exterior architecture, façade composition, and materials; reviewing Revit models for compliance with Homebound standards; and partnering cross-functionally with Product, Construction, Procurement, and Sales teams.
You'll need 5–8 years of architectural experience with a Project Architect or Architectural Project Manager background. Single-family residential project experience is essential, including zoning, permitting, and HOA processes. Homebuilding or boutique residential design firm experience is preferred. Strong technical skills required: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Bluebeam, and BIM. You must understand residential construction systems (structural, MEP coordination), building codes, and climate-specific considerations. A Bachelor's or Master's in Architecture or related field is required. Desired qualifications include Florida residential market experience, experience adapting standardized plans across markets, architectural licensure or progress toward it, and high-fidelity rendering skills (Enscape, Lumion, 3ds Max).
This role is based in Dallas and requires local presence in the market.
