MISUMI Americas, a division of MISUMI Group, is a leading provider of standard, configurable, and custom manufacturing solutions. The Applied Content Engineer role bridges product engineering, customer experience, and education by designing and building real-world engineering systems, demo platforms, and training kits that showcase the practical application of MISUMI components.
In this position, you will translate abstract product capabilities into physical and digital systems that inspire customers and enable learning. Key responsibilities include designing and developing demonstration systems that highlight real-world use cases such as automation cells, jigs, fixtures, and motion systems. You'll create detailed CAD models, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using MISUMI-sourced components, then build and test physical training kits and modular systems for university and customer use.
You will document system designs with clear technical narratives and supporting materials, collaborating with instructional designers to ensure systems translate into effective learning experiences. Partnership with marketing is essential to develop application-driven content including videos, case studies, and technical walkthroughs. The role also involves identifying product gaps and usability challenges, providing feedback to product management, and continuously iterating on demo systems based on user feedback and market needs.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, systems engineering, or product development. Strong CAD and assembly design skills (parametric modeling preferred) are essential, along with hands-on fabrication and prototyping experience in machining, 3D printing, and assembly. You should demonstrate systems-thinking mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical designs clearly to both engineers and non-engineers. The role requires 20% annual travel in the US and Canada for university visits, team meetings, career fairs, and trade shows.
