Mistral AI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to drive adoption of its full-stack AI solutions among customers in critical, sovereign, and highly regulated environments. You will be an integral part of the Applied AI Engineering team, working hand-in-hand with customers from pre-sale through post-implementation to ensure solutions meet the highest standards of security, reliability, compliance, and operational excellence.
In this hands-on, customer-facing role, you will design, build, and deploy full-stack AI applications tailored to complex and sensitive environments. You will collaborate closely with researchers, AI engineers, and product engineers on sophisticated customer projects, integrating cutting-edge AI models into clients' software products. Your responsibilities include designing and maintaining scalable, robust full-stack applications with seamless front-end and back-end integration; developing complex use cases for critical infrastructure and sovereign institutions; building GenAI applications, interfaces, APIs, dashboards, and workflow tools; and working directly with customers to understand workflows, technical constraints, security requirements, and strategic objectives.
You will ensure solutions prioritize security, reliability, performance, maintainability, and compliance, while collaborating with product and science teams to improve capabilities based on customer feedback, particularly for security-sensitive and mission-critical use cases.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; 2+ years as a technical individual contributor on cutting-edge technologies; strong coding skills in Python and TypeScript; experience with front-end frameworks (React, NextJS, or VueJS) and back-end technologies (NodeJS); solid understanding of software development principles including design patterns, data structures, and algorithms; strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences; comfort in customer-facing environments translating complex needs into production solutions; and fluency in English.
Ideal candidates have experience with LLM/GenAI models, open-source contributions, customer engineering or solutions architecture roles, work in regulated sectors (government, defense, financial services, healthcare, energy, telecommunications), familiarity with security-sensitive environments (on-prem deployments, private cloud, data residency, compliance), and experience building AI-powered products for enterprise customers.
Security requirement: Must hold French citizenship and meet local requirements for high-level security clearance.
