Mistral is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to drive the adoption and deployment of its frontier AI products with enterprise customers across finance, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, and the public sector. You will be an integral part of the Applied AI Engineering team, working directly with customers from pre-sale through post-implementation to ensure successful deployment of Mistral's full-stack AI solutions.
In this role, you will manage customer relationships across multiple stakeholders (executives, data scientists, software engineers) and serve as a technical bridge between Mistral's research and production environments. Key responsibilities include:
• Onboarding customers on Mistral products and APIs, providing guidance on prompting, evaluation, fine-tuning, and production integration with backend and frontend systems
• Deploying state-of-the-art GenAI applications across consumer and industrial use cases, driving technological transformation with measurable business impact
• Collaborating with researchers, AI engineers, and product teams on complex customer projects involving advanced fine-tuning, LLM applications, and open-source contributions
• Participating in pre-sales calls to understand client needs and provide technical guidance on Mistral technologies to diverse stakeholders
• Working with product and science teams to improve capabilities based on customer feedback
You will work on high-stakes projects with considerable business impact, translating cutting-edge research into production systems. The role requires strong technical depth in machine learning and LLMs combined with excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required qualifications: PhD or Master's in AI/Data Science; 2+ years as a technical individual contributor (data scientist or software engineer) on AI products; experience with LLM fine-tuning, advanced RAG, and agentic systems; deep understanding of ML/LLM concepts and algorithms; proven experience building and deploying LLM/NLP applications; strong Python coding skills; PyTorch experience; familiarity with agent frameworks (LangChain) and vector databases; fluent English; excellent communication abilities.
Ideal candidates have contributed to open-source LLM projects and have experience as a Customer Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Product Manager.
