Mistral AI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to drive the adoption and deployment of its AI products with enterprise customers across finance, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, and the public sector. You will work as a technical bridge between Mistral's research and product teams and customers, managing relationships with multiple stakeholders (CEOs, CTOs, data scientists, engineers) from pre-sale through post-implementation.
Key responsibilities include onboarding customers on Mistral's products and APIs, providing technical guidance on prompting, evaluation, and fine-tuning, and ensuring seamless production integration with backend and frontend systems. You'll deploy state-of-the-art generative AI applications across consumer and industrial use cases, working on projects with significant business impact. You'll collaborate closely with researchers, AI engineers, and product teams on complex customer projects involving advanced fine-tuning, LLM applications, and open-source contributions.
You'll participate in pre-sales calls to understand client needs and provide technical guidance on Mistral's technologies to diverse stakeholders. Your feedback loop with the product and science teams will help continuously improve capabilities based on real-world customer requirements.
Required qualifications: PhD or Master's in AI/Data Science; 2+ years as a technical individual contributor (data scientist or software engineer) on AI-based products; hands-on experience with fine-tuning LLMs, advanced RAG, and agentic use cases; deep understanding of machine learning and LLM concepts; proven experience building and deploying LLM/NLP applications; strong Python coding skills; PyTorch experience; familiarity with agent frameworks (LangChain) and vector databases; excellent communication skills explaining complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences; fluency in English and French.
Ideal candidates have contributed to open-source LLM projects and have experience as a Customer Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Product Manager.
