OpenAI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join the Digital Natives team in São Paulo. This role focuses on ensuring safe and effective deployment of generative AI applications for developers and enterprises, acting as a trusted technical advisor to large, sophisticated customers.
You will partner with senior customer leaders to establish AI strategic roadmaps and identify high-value applications, then work with their engineering and product teams to move from prototype to production. You'll design enterprise architectures using OpenAI APIs and other services to maximize customer value, collaborating closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Applied Research, and Product teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Embedding deeply with sophisticated platform customers as their technical thought partner for novel AI applications
- Providing proactive guidance on maximizing business impact and accelerating time to value
- Experimenting and prototyping solutions with customers
- Managing relationships with customer leadership to ensure successful deployment and scale
- Contributing to open-source developer and enterprise resources
- Scaling the Applied AI Engineer function through knowledge sharing and best practices documentation
- Delivering high-signal feedback to Product, Engineering, and Research teams
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of technical consulting or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in Python and JavaScript
- Experience building and delivering prototypes on OpenAI's API platform
- Track record leading complex technical projects with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to identify opportunities for maximizing customer business value
- End-to-end problem ownership and self-directed learning
- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese
- Comfort with ambiguity, context switching, and dynamic environments
The role operates on a hybrid model with 3 days per week in the São Paulo office. OpenAI offers relocation assistance for new employees.
