Cognite is building AI and data solutions for industrial digitalization, helping solve the world's hardest, highest-impact problems. As an Applied AI Engineer, you'll design and build complex AI-powered solutions—agentic systems, user-facing applications, and intelligent workflows—deployed in real customer environments.
You'll own deployments end-to-end, building cross-stack solutions using Cognite Data Fusion and agentic frameworks to solve real customer problems. Your work will involve orchestrating integrations between AI components, Cognite data models, and existing customer systems using scalable engineering practices. You'll design and architect multi-agent systems that combine LLMs, tool use, evaluation loops, and reasoning over industrial data.
You'll execute directly with customers, collaborating with technical teams on-site to refine use cases and integrate solutions into production environments. You'll also create lightweight but powerful interfaces that deliver value for executives and operators, and translate technical work into compelling narratives that inspire internal and external stakeholders. Your learnings and customer feedback will systematically feed into the product roadmap.
Required: 3+ years of relevant software engineering or AI solution architecture experience, including direct customer-facing work. You must have hands-on experience with LLMs, embeddings, and prompt engineering. You're a strong full-stack engineer comfortable working across React/TypeScript frontends and Python/Kotlin backends. You've shipped agent-based applications using frameworks like LangChain. You default to building with rapid iteration, communicate clearly to both technical and executive audiences, write quality maintainable code, and work comfortably at the frontier of modern AI development.
