Salary: USD 140,000 - 200,000 / annual
Armory is rebuilding the transaction network for US healthcare services, applying modern infrastructure principles to healthcare payments and workflows. The company has built complex AI and workflow systems for HHS, NIH, and other critical government institutions, and operates as a small, in-person team in New York.
As an Applied AI Engineer, you will bridge product and systems engineering. You'll work across a tight-knit team of engineers, strategists, and business development, translating raw customer signal into architected system components rather than one-off solutions. Your role combines field product engineering—viscerally understanding what customers need—with systems building to make it real. Every piece of code you ship compounds into the healthcare transaction platform.
You'll take ownership of understanding what the platform actually needs, not just executing tickets. You'll work on complex workflow and AI systems that serve critical institutions and impact how Americans access care. The team values clear communication, raising problems early, and building repeatable solutions that make subsequent problems easier.
This is a full-time, in-person position. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national, or U.S. lawful permanent resident.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years building production software
- Strong engineering fundamentals: ability to architect systems, reason about how pieces fit together, and maintain clear engineering principles
- Bias for leverage: pull threads all the way through, make hard things repeatable
- Product sense: notice what the platform needs and build toward it
- Clear communicator: explain technical decisions plainly, raise problems early
