Overview.ai is a fast-growing US AI startup bringing cutting-edge computer vision to manufacturing. The company deploys GPU-powered cameras on production lines, runs inference on the edge, and operates a platform supporting large fleets of devices globally. They solve inspection problems previously unsolvable with traditional machine vision, delivering high accuracy, fast deployment, and operator-friendly experiences that enable real factory rollouts.
As Applications Manager for Factory Deployments, you will lead a team of applications engineers (vision, controls, mechanical) and technicians to deliver end-to-end deployments across multiple factories and production lines in China and Southeast Asia. Your core responsibilities include:
**Deployment Outcomes at Scale:** Own the delivery of deployments across multiple factories—managing schedule, staffing, readiness, execution, and stabilization. Drive deployments to completion with stable inspections, met acceptance criteria, and clear handoff to customer operations. Build repeatable playbooks that reduce time-to-production and increase customer self-sufficiency.
**Team Leadership:** Lead and grow a high-performance field team of applications engineers and technicians across regions. Set execution standards including daily/weekly cadence, escalation paths, documentation, and quality bars. Coach your team to be fast, calm, and effective under pressure, especially when production is on the line.
**Customer Leadership:** Serve as the on-the-ground leader with customer stakeholders (process, quality, automation, factory management). Manage scope ruthlessly but professionally to protect outcomes and prevent scope creep. Drive urgency by aligning customer resources, line access, sample parts, and decision-making to prevent deployment stalls.
**Process and Systems Building:** Create operational infrastructure for deployment scaling—onboarding frameworks, training, checklists, commissioning templates, project dashboards, post-mortems, and continuous improvement loops. Track key metrics: deployment cycle time, blockers, time-to-stability, acceptance rate, and expansion readiness.
**Product Feedback:** Translate field pain into product improvements. Work closely with global engineering and product teams to push changes that remove recurring friction and make deployments faster and easier.
Success means deployments become predictable with faster ramp and fewer surprises; customers trust Overview.ai to scale across more lines and factories; your team operates like an elite unit with strong execution and high morale; and field reality drives meaningful roadmap wins.
Travel frequency is 70% or above across Shanghai, Shenzhen, Nantong, and possible Vietnam and Malaysia deployments.
**Requirements:**
- Proven track record leading complex, multi-site technical deployments in manufacturing environments
- Strong program/project management ability: run multiple workstreams, prioritize ruthlessly, keep people aligned
- Experience leading teams (hiring, training, performance management, developing strong individual contributors)
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management (factory floor to customer executives to global teams)
- High ownership, high discipline, high energy; self-directed execution
- Fluent Mandarin Chinese and strong English (written and spoken) for global coordination and customer executive communication
**Strongly Preferred:**
- Experience in high-tempo environments (EMS, automotive, battery, electronics manufacturing)
- Familiarity with AI inspection, machine vision, or automation deployments (execution matters most, not necessarily deep technical expertise)
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, incomplete information, and shifting constraints without losing momentum
