Standard Bots is seeking an Applications Engineer to help architect and deploy innovative robotic automation solutions. This role bridges engineering, sales, and customer success, combining hands-on technical work with customer-facing problem-solving.
You will partner with sales teams and customers to design custom robotic solutions for novel applications, serving as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle. A significant portion of the role involves traveling to customer sites to install, program, and validate Standard Bots' 6-axis robotic systems in production environments. You'll own installations end-to-end, ensuring solutions meet customer requirements and operate reliably.
Beyond deployment, you will create technical enablement materials—sample code, application notes, and white papers—that help customers maximize the platform's value. You'll collaborate with the in-house engineering team to test and refine new features and integrations as the product evolves. You'll also contribute to marketing efforts by developing collateral that communicates Standard Bots' value proposition to prospective customers.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience across electrical, software, and mechanical systems. You're comfortable with DC power, understand sensor logic (NPN vs. PNP), can write Python scripts, and navigate CAD tools like SolidWorks. You have direct experience in automotive, manufacturing, or industrial automation environments and understand factory-floor constraints, workflows, and stakeholder dynamics. You've worked in or alongside production and assembly environments and can credibly discuss cycle times, uptime requirements, safety standards, and equipment integration.
You thrive in ambiguity, communicate with precision across technical and non-technical audiences, and prioritize user outcomes over technical elegance. You execute with urgency, default to simple and reliable solutions, and proactively identify improvement opportunities. This is a role for someone energized by new domains and challenges who can pick up context quickly to maximize impact.
